Service Description

Cupping therapy has been practiced for thousands of years. Evidence of this therapy can be found in ancient medical texts from Egypt (1550 BC) and China (1600-1040 BC). Hippocrates encouraged cupping as an adjunct to medical treatments. It was and is still used in families to relieve coughing and muscle pains. Cupping stimulates metabolic activity, improves immune function and increases blood circulation to promote healing and reduce pain. Cups are applied to the skin for a few minutes to create a suction in order to benefit the flow of blood and lymph. Cupping has many applications, including in cases of respiratory problems, muscle and joint pain, migraines, anxiety & high blood pressure. This course will teach how to use cups with oil, and clarify contraindications to cupping. Gua Sha therapy is rooted in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
