The students, taking the classic "sei-za" and "crawling" positions, touch and connect with "the receiver" through the Bladder Meridian.
A significant difference with Intuitive Shiatsu™, is the unique multi tsubo methodology, which eliminates the pain commonly associated with traditional shiatsu or other deep massage. The Practitioner applies stretches and rotating the limbs opening the energy pathways, releasing blocked or stagnant energy. The continuous rhythmic movement is often compared to the movement of Qigong or Tai Chi. You’ll lie on a mat wearing loose comfortable clothing.
Makko ho Stretches:
The training and discipline common to Japanese culture, consistent of three levels of mastery: physical, psychological and spiritual. On the physical level mastery of form (kata) is important to increase Ki energy to maintain health, calmness, and peace. Kumiko offers a model form, you observe carefully and repeat it countless times till you have completely internalized the form using observation, meditation and breathing techniques. In the ultimate mastery of form you release from adherence to form to feel each element; metal, water, wood, fire and earth and its energy pathways; meridians.
When energy is balanced, the body and mind can follow its own natural impulse to heal itself. This deep relaxation rejuvenates and induces a state of harmony and peace.
Relief from the common physical and emotional symptoms of stress, include: fatigue, backache, joint pain and stiffness, muscle tension, insomnia, anxiety, menstrual problems an menopause.
What to Expect:
Please plan to spend an hour and a half for your initial private session. During this time you will have the opportunity to have an in-depth discussion about your concerns. Following a review of your health and personal histories and a Hara assessment, you will receive your first session.
After your initial visit, you can expect to come in for weekly one-hour sessions. As you begin to experience improvement and achieve internal balance, visits will become less frequent. The length and frequency of visits varies by individual. To maintain overall health and wellness, some like to come in once a month for “check-up”, or once each season for a “seasonal tune-up.”
