Attuning

In this day and age filled with the firehose of information, misinformation, and disinformation, of frequent alarm and too often a sense of a world in disarray, how do we make our way to find the foundational truth of our own existence, the absolute truth of the light that we are right now in this moment? How do we take that first step of a thousand mile journey, a narrative that transforms and reveals our true destiny.

Over a century ago in Japan a new healing practice evolved from the ancient forms of acupuncture that connected the rivers of healing light that reside within us into the healing touch of bodywork. Called shiatsu this practice tore down the physical walls that create the illusion of feeling separated and in doing so, unearthed a vibrational tonality - an inner spring - that connects us to the vast universe that imagined us into being and restores our wealth of health when with our bodies we listen with the intensity of a pin drop.

Ten years ago, innate wisdom blazed a trail when leading shiatsu practitioner/teacher Wendy Barton Bolognesi held her first shiatsu camp in the Poconos wilderness in her heirloom off-the-grid cabin. A camp of spirit, soul and seclusion by which to be and breathe, to harmonize with nature and experience becoming absorbed in the surrounding energy, and like a river opening up to the ocean of our awareness, create a flow for this truly precious and flowing practice.

The cabin sits atop a beautiful private sandspring-filled lake removed from the routine of modern life where over several days participants share the communal  deep dive into shiatsu unencumbered by the encroachment of modern life.  Joy and intention infuse the weekend that blends shiatsu with morning bird songs, lake hikes and campfire marshmallows.

Over the years, wise and humble souls with a master's touch have unlocked and shared techniques and transitions in  shiatsu, practices that open up listening with the body, and aha moments that stay with you long after we dissolve back into daily life.

There is a magic to our gathering - an internal gong in time - as witnessed by the extraordinary human beings that have been called to participate in past years - masters in the true sense - longtime shiatsu therapist Nini Melvin, author of Humanature - Pathways to Personal and Planetary Healing, Five Lights Center's internationally-recognized, deeply experienced leaders in shiatsu, Kumiko Kanayama and Simone Carbonel, and Lorelei Chang, celebrated movement artist extraordinaire and a trailblazer in Chinese modern dance.

Over the last decade Shiatsu Camp has evolved into The Shiatsu Project - a series of shiatsu-centered events around the globe. The setting is intimate.  The connection is deeply fulfilling. Our shared spirit is radiant.
