🌏 Shiatsu Summit 2025: One World – One Planet, United Through Healing Touch

April 25–27, 2025 | Himalayan Institute + Zoom Access

In today’s fast-paced and uncertain world, the need for grounded, heart-centered healing is more urgent than ever. That’s why we gathered for the 2nd Annual Shiatsu Summit, where practitioners, teachers, and students from around the globe came together to share wisdom, reconnect, and rekindle the healing spirit of Shiatsu.

Guided by our shared mission of One World – One Planet, this year’s summit reminded us that when we care for ourselves, we care for the world. Our theme, “Global Shiatsu Community For All,” was a call to unity, presence, and intentional touch—a reminder that healing begins with connection.

A Weekend of Transformation

More than 120 participants joined in person and online to explore Shiatsu and beyond—immersing themselves in hands-on workshops, serene nature hikes, meditation, and yoga—all nestled in the sacred space of the Himalayan Institute.

The energy was palpable. The learning was deep. The community was alive.

💬 Participant Reflections

Stacey Pearson had only been practicing Shiatsu for two months when she decided to attend. She arrived with curiosity and trust—and left with something deeper.

“I’m so glad I did it. I met so many amazing people, stayed at the incredible Himalayan Institute, and most of all, I feel like I got to know the Spirit of Shiatsu.”

Her words echo a shared experience. Many attendees described the weekend as a spiritual and professional awakening—an opportunity to reconnect with the roots of this powerful healing art.

🌏 A Global Gathering of Heart and Practice

For many practitioners who often work alone, the Summit was a much-needed wellspring of inspiration.

“To be able to gather and exchange ideas with colleagues is inspiring.” – Katherine Powers, Presenter
“In the Shiatsu community, we don’t have many chances to get together. This was a great opportunity to meet colleagues and be inspired by the stories and teachings each participant contributed.” – Diego Sanchez, Presenter
“Shiatsu really does unite people. I only wish it was more accessible to more people worldwide.” – Karen Dodds, Participant

From Brazil to Toronto, Italy to NYC, the Summit reflected the global reach of Shiatsu—and the universal language of touch.

💫 Learning, Growing, and Returning to Intention

Workshops covered everything from Ampuku techniques to Hara awarenessdivergent vision, and the subtle energetics of touch. Yet, what resonated most was a shared commitment to openness.

“There was no dogma. No one was saying ‘this is the true Shiatsu.’ There was a genuine open-hearted spirit.” – Daniel Adler, Canada
“I reconnected to my purpose as a healer—and was reminded that self-care is the foundation for caring for others.” – Ori, Participant

Liliya reflected on the deep cultural meaning behind each movement: “It’s about understanding the love practitioners pour into every gesture.”

Christine summed it up with powerful simplicity:“Every touch has a ripple effect. Be empty so you can truly listen. Expand beyond pain to create healing.”

Tiffany also offered her takeaways:

  • Lean in.

  • Trust the opening.

  • The abdomen is the second brain.

🌱 A Living, Breathing Practice

The Shiatsu Summit was not just about theory—it was about embodied presence. The Five Lights team didn’t just organize an event—they cultivated a living, breathing field of healing energy.

As we closed, a shared hope echoed among participants:

That this community continues to grow.

That more voices, more hands, and more hearts join next year.

That Shiatsu continues to offer its subtle yet profound healing to the world.
